It is important to note that there are many other organic products that are not included on the OMRI list. And we want assure you that organic growers may still use organic products that are not listed in the OMRI directory.
About the OMRI The Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) is a nonprofit organization started in 1997 by organic certification agencies. Its mission is to provide professional, independent, and transparent review of materials allowed to produce, process, and handle organic food and fiber.
Through its Brand Name Review Program, OMRI publishes the OMRI Brand Name Products List (BNPL). The BNPL is a compilation of brand name products suitable for use in organic production, processing and handling. Only those products that have passed this review are included in the BNPL and can display the OMRI Listed seal.
OMRI is a private company that charges fees for reviewing and listing products on its BNPL. There are also many organic products on the market that are not on the BNPL because companies choose not to spend money on having their products reviewed.
